Guardian Building

The Guardian Building is one of the most significant and striking Art Deco skyscrapers in the world. Designed by architect Wirt Rowland and completed in 1929, visitors are awestruck by the explosion of color, craftsmanship and blending of Native American, Aztec, and Arts & Crafts influences. Its magnificent lobby was once promoted as the "Cathredral of Finance" and today the building is home to offices, shops and restaurants including a Pure Detroit store and the Rowland Cafe.
