PURE DETROIT — On Friday night, up-and-coming "don't call us a folk group" rockers Legendary Creatures will be releasing their debut EP, Bonfires. Helmed by duetting cousins Matt Luke and Sarah Vaughn, it is a tough task to pin down their sound. Are we peering into the eyes of Mazzy Star when Sarah Vaughn subtle vocals hover above minimalist percussion, alt-country chord progressions and understated slide guitar? Wait — should we even call it "alt-country?" This type of genre-defying alt-ness can get a bit confusing, but on the few tracks available for free streaming over at Legendary Creatures' Bandcamp, we've definitely fallen in love with their sing-song delivery.
